24 MARCH 2016
NO 34 OF MI6 CONFIDENTIAL (ENGLISH FANZINE)

New issue of English fanzine MI6 Confidential (issue 34), another special dedicated to the making of the 2015 James Bond film SPECTRE, reviewed here.

MI6 Confidential, the full-colour magazine celebrating the world of James Bond, returns with its 34th issue.

The multi-million dollar SPECTRE opened in cinemas late last year to a raft of expectation and a record-breaking first week at the box office. Although, as time would tell, the financial takings did not top its predecessor, the tone of SPECTRE struck a chord with many, and harkened back to an easier, more cavalier era of Bond. As its Associate Producer Gregg Wilson (son of Michael G. Wilson) explains to MI6 in this issue, SPECTRE is bigger and bolder by design, and reveals an unburdened Bond.

As well as conversations with Wilson, Ben Whishaw and Naomie Harris, this issue cast an eye back at the box office and global premieres of the 24th Bond film, and inspect the way the film was marketed via EON’s many promotional partners.

Articles in this issue:
SPECTRE Around The World - The world and regional premieres from London to Mexico
SPECTRE At The Box Office - Full analysis of the financials from opening to Blu-Ray release
• Top Of His Game - Gregg Wilson on the bigger, bolder Bond
• The Home Front - Ben Whishaw & Naomie Harris discuss returning to the franchise
• The Brands Of SPECTRE - The promotional partners and tie-in campaigns
• The 'Simplexity' Of The Martini - Belvedere's head mixologist dissects the drink
• DB10 Goes Miniature - Bond's unique Aston is painstakingly recreated by Corgi
• The Bond Connection - Sir Roger Moore’s collaboration with Liberty Fabrics

Editor's note:
After an invitation from Sony, FSWL and MI6 Confidential was given the possibility to interview Daniel Craig, Christoph Waltz, Léa Seydoux, Monica Bellucci, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson in conjunction with the premiere of SPECTRE in London.

9 OCTOBER 2015
NO 32 OF MI6 CONFIDENTIAL (ENGLISH FANZINE)

New issue of the English fanzine MI6 Confidential, issue 32, a special dedicated to the making of the 2015 James Bond film SPECTRE. >Review of the film

MI6 Confidential, the full-colour magazine celebrating the world of James Bond, returns with its 32nd issue.

Sam Mendes had a particular vision for a car chase through the streets of Rome. It’s the dead of night, the streets are clear and two spectacular hyper- cars are going head to head. In this issue we meet the team who brought that vision to life: the 300-strong SPECTRE second unit, headed by Alexander Witt. We also recount the little-known story of Donald Westlake, author and screenwriter who drafted a treatment for "Bond 18"; cast a look back at the Key West shoot for Licence to Kill (1989) with rare photos and artwork, and celebrate the biggest Bond of all, Thunderball (1965) (1965), as 2015 marks its 50th anniversary.

Articles in this issue:
• Eternal Raceway - Behind the scenes with the SPECTRE second unit
• Fall of the City - Author Donald Westlake and his Bond 18 treatment
• Licence To Kill - An original 1989 report from the set
• Bond on Set - Rare photos from the Licence To Kill Key West shoot
• The Biggest Bond of All - Thunderball took 007 to new heights and great depths
• Down Under - A conversation with underwater action director Ricou Browning
• The Real Shrublands - When Ian Fleming checked into health farm Enton Hall
• The Bond Connection - Spooks: The Greater Good brings MI5 to the big screen

25 AUGUST 2015
NO 31 OF MI6 CONFIDENTIAL (ENGLISH FANZINE)

New issue of the English fanzine MI6 Confidential, issue 31, a special dedicated to the making of the 1995 James Bond film GoldenEye (1995) co-starring Swedish Bond girl Izabella Scorupco.

"GoldenEye was a bit of a throwback to the classic Bond adventures of Sean Connery and Roger Moore. That handsome, debonair Bond with a lot of humour and one-liners. The story was fantastic but it wasn’t so fantastic that it made it ridiculous.” - Director Martin Campbell

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE: (August 25, 2015)

MI6 Confidential, the full-colour magazine celebrating the world of James Bond 007, returns with its 31st issue, BOND RELOADED.

GoldenEye understandably holds an important place in the minds of Bond aficionados and was a milestone in many ways. It introduced Pierce Brosnan and Dame Judi Dench, conducted the franchise's first experiments with CGI, and as its director tells us, honoured all that had gone before by explicitly harking back to the fun and adventure of the '60s 007 outings.

Assembled in this issue you'll find a candid conversation with the film's director, key members of the second and model units, the historical origins of its title, and story behind the publicity machine for Bond 17. In 1995, after an interlude that seemed a lifetime to filmgoers, Bond was back and proving there was definitely no substitute.

Articles in this issue:
• Bond Reloaded - An exclusive interview with director Martin Campbell
• Luck and Fate - The ingredients that launched Bond into the 1990s (written by FSWL contributor Nicolás Suszczyk)
• The Legacy of GoldenEye - How Ian Fleming found his Jamaican solace
• Golden Memories - The publicity and premiere for GoldenEye (written by FSWL contributor Mark Cerulli)
• Big Bangs - Filming the action for Pierce Brosnan's debut
• The Man With The Golden Eye - Cinematographer Phil Meheux on setting the tone
• Thinking Big, Seeing Small - The model unit and their in-camera effects (written by FSWL contributor Steve Oxenrider)
• The Bond Connection - Behind the scenes of Guy Ritchie's The Man From U.N.C.L.E

1 APRIL 2015
NO 30 OF MI6 CONFIDENTIAL (ENGLISH FANZINE)

New issue of the English fanzine MI6 Confidential, issue 30, a special dedicated to three James Bond films directed by Lewis Gilbert - You Only Live Twice (1967), The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) and Moonraker (1979) (1979).

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE: (April 2, 2015)

MI6 Confidential, the full-colour magazine celebrating the world of James Bond 007, returns with its thirtieth issue, THE MONORAIL TRILOGY.

Although the early sequels to Dr. No (1962) quickly billed themselves as 'bigger' than past adventures, nothing quite topped Lewis Gilbert's three contributions in terms of scale. With new, exclusive interviews with the director himself and legendary production designer Ken Adam, this issue reflects on the grandeur of You Only Live Twice, The Spy Who Loved Me, and Moonraker - what they've cheekily dubbed in-house as the 'monorail trilogy'.

As well as an exhaustive twenty-page production history of the trilogy, MI6 celebrate the life and work of the late Richard Kiel, who played the enigmatic but lovable Jaws in both Spy and Moonraker. Making it 'big' really is a theme for this issue.

Articles in this issue:
• The Monorail Trilogy - The Bond films of Lewis Gilbert
You Only Live Twice - From volcano lairs to villainous vixens
The Spy Who Loved Me - Nobody does it better than Cubby Broccoli
Moonraker - Taking James Bond further than ever before
• Supertankers & Space Stations - Sir Ken Adam reflects on designing Bond
• Remembering Richard - A tribute to the late, great Jaws actor
• Ian & Roald - Fleming's connection with the author/screenwriter, Roald Dahl
• The Bond Connection - The spy-fi posters of Robert McGinnis

24 FEBRUARY 2015
NO 29 OF MI6 CONFIDENTIAL (ENGLISH FANZINE)

New issue of the English fanzine MI6 Confidential, issue 29, a special dedicated to SPECTRE (2015), and much more.

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE: (24th February, 2015)

MI6 Confidential, the full-colour magazine celebrating the world of James Bond 007, returns with its twenty-ninth issue, SPECTRE FIRST LOOK.

Ask anyone with a passing interest in Bond and they'll recall the terrorist organisation SPECTRE pulling the strings on some of 007’s most dangerous missions; but not because they have been a regular fixture of recent times. However, the organisation will be back (and just possibly its ubiquitous leader, Blofeld) in the 24th screen adventure. This issue pays tribute to the legacy that went before it. Packed with trivia, and historical data, we recount the rise of Blofeld from the germ of an idea from author Ian Fleming and producer Kevin McClory to his most recent filmic appearance in For Your Eyes Only (1981).

We also explore the little-told history of Roger Moore’s seventh and final outing, A View to a Kill – celebrating its 30th anniversary by catching up with several of the film’s alumni.

Articles in this issue:
• Snowbound - An early look at the production of Bond 24, now known as SPECTRE
• The Many Faces of Blofeld - The master villain and his organisation on screen
• Kevin McClory Interviewed - When the Thunderball (1965) (1965) producer reflected on 007 in 1979
• SPECTRE In Print - Charting the organisation's involvement in the Flemings and John Gardner novels
• Dance Into The Fire - The complete history of Roger Moore's final outing as Bond
• Steamy Rendezvous - Fiona Fullerton on spending a day in the hot tub with co-star Roger Moore
• The Final Cut - Editor Peter Davies remembers the global shoot for A View To A Kill
• The Bond Connection - Traditional cool meets modern street grit in Kingsman

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE:

MI6 Confidential, the full-colour magazine celebrating the world of James Bond 007, returns with its nineteenth issue, BILLION DOLLAR BOND.

Whilst pundits' predictions of Skyfall's success definitely rang true, the 23rd Bond adventure surely surpassed even the most optimistic auspices, both in terms of substance, and box office success. This issue celebrates that success, with a look at the global promotion and Royal World Premiere, and we turn back the clock to pre-production as screenwriters Neal Purvis and Robert Wade describe the genesis of the Skyfall screenplay in an exclusive interview.

We also chat to Gregg Wilson - associate producer and son of Michael G. Wilson - about his bond with the franchise. Finally, as Skyfall marks something of a fresh beginning for 007, the issue would not be complete without meeting the new Miss Moneypenny, Naomie Harris, and a celebration of Judi Dench's 17-year run as 'M'.

Featured in this issue:
• Bonding with Britain - Exclusive interview with screenwriters Neal Purvis & Robert Wade
• World Premiere - MI6 reports from the biggest Bond premiere yet
• Around the World with Skyfall - Following the cast & crew on their truly global junket
• All in the Family - Associate producer Gregg Wilson on his bond with the franchise
• A Close Shave - How Naomie Harris is making Miss Eve Moneypenny her own
• Swan Song - Celebrating the 17-year, 7 film legacy of Dame Judi Dench's 'M'
• James Bond Ski School - Demystifying some of the skiing jargon used by 007's creator
• The Bond Connection - Examines the life and work of spymaster-cum-novelist John le Carré

Editor's note:
FSWL got an interview with Neal Purvis & Robert Wade in September 2012, it was published on the website in early October.

Like MI6 Confidential, FSWL got an invitation to interview Gregg Wilson and Naomie Harris in conjunction with the premiere of Skyfall in Stockholm, our report will follow later.
