24 MARCH 2016
NO 34 OF MI6 CONFIDENTIAL (ENGLISH FANZINE)

New issue of English fanzine MI6 Confidential (issue 34), another special dedicated to the making of the 2015 James Bond film SPECTRE, reviewed here.

MI6 Confidential, the full-colour magazine celebrating the world of James Bond, returns with its 34th issue.

The multi-million dollar SPECTRE opened in cinemas late last year to a raft of expectation and a record-breaking first week at the box office. Although, as time would tell, the financial takings did not top its predecessor, the tone of SPECTRE struck a chord with many, and harkened back to an easier, more cavalier era of Bond. As its Associate Producer Gregg Wilson (son of Michael G. Wilson) explains to MI6 in this issue, SPECTRE is bigger and bolder by design, and reveals an unburdened Bond.

As well as conversations with Wilson, Ben Whishaw and Naomie Harris, this issue cast an eye back at the box office and global premieres of the 24th Bond film, and inspect the way the film was marketed via EON’s many promotional partners.

Articles in this issue:
SPECTRE Around The World - The world and regional premieres from London to Mexico
SPECTRE At The Box Office - Full analysis of the financials from opening to Blu-Ray release
• Top Of His Game - Gregg Wilson on the bigger, bolder Bond
• The Home Front - Ben Whishaw & Naomie Harris discuss returning to the franchise
• The Brands Of SPECTRE - The promotional partners and tie-in campaigns
• The 'Simplexity' Of The Martini - Belvedere's head mixologist dissects the drink
• DB10 Goes Miniature - Bond's unique Aston is painstakingly recreated by Corgi
• The Bond Connection - Sir Roger Moore’s collaboration with Liberty Fabrics

Editor's note:
After an invitation from Sony, FSWL and MI6 Confidential was given the possibility to interview Daniel Craig, Christoph Waltz, Léa Seydoux, Monica Bellucci, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson in conjunction with the premiere of SPECTRE in London.

9 OCTOBER 2015
NO 32 OF MI6 CONFIDENTIAL (ENGLISH FANZINE)

New issue of the English fanzine MI6 Confidential, issue 32, a special dedicated to the making of the 2015 James Bond film SPECTRE. >Review of the film

MI6 Confidential, the full-colour magazine celebrating the world of James Bond, returns with its 32nd issue.

Sam Mendes had a particular vision for a car chase through the streets of Rome. It’s the dead of night, the streets are clear and two spectacular hyper- cars are going head to head. In this issue we meet the team who brought that vision to life: the 300-strong SPECTRE second unit, headed by Alexander Witt. We also recount the little-known story of Donald Westlake, author and screenwriter who drafted a treatment for "Bond 18"; cast a look back at the Key West shoot for Licence to Kill (1989) with rare photos and artwork, and celebrate the biggest Bond of all, Thunderball (1965) (1965), as 2015 marks its 50th anniversary.

Articles in this issue:
• Eternal Raceway - Behind the scenes with the SPECTRE second unit
• Fall of the City - Author Donald Westlake and his Bond 18 treatment
• Licence To Kill - An original 1989 report from the set
• Bond on Set - Rare photos from the Licence To Kill Key West shoot
• The Biggest Bond of All - Thunderball took 007 to new heights and great depths
• Down Under - A conversation with underwater action director Ricou Browning
• The Real Shrublands - When Ian Fleming checked into health farm Enton Hall
• The Bond Connection - Spooks: The Greater Good brings MI5 to the big screen

25 AUGUST 2015
NO 31 OF MI6 CONFIDENTIAL (ENGLISH FANZINE)

New issue of the English fanzine MI6 Confidential, issue 31, a special dedicated to the making of the 1995 James Bond film GoldenEye (1995) co-starring Swedish Bond girl Izabella Scorupco.

"GoldenEye was a bit of a throwback to the classic Bond adventures of Sean Connery and Roger Moore. That handsome, debonair Bond with a lot of humour and one-liners. The story was fantastic but it wasn’t so fantastic that it made it ridiculous.” - Director Martin Campbell

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE: (August 25, 2015)

MI6 Confidential, the full-colour magazine celebrating the world of James Bond 007, returns with its 31st issue, BOND RELOADED.

GoldenEye understandably holds an important place in the minds of Bond aficionados and was a milestone in many ways. It introduced Pierce Brosnan and Dame Judi Dench, conducted the franchise's first experiments with CGI, and as its director tells us, honoured all that had gone before by explicitly harking back to the fun and adventure of the '60s 007 outings.

Assembled in this issue you'll find a candid conversation with the film's director, key members of the second and model units, the historical origins of its title, and story behind the publicity machine for Bond 17. In 1995, after an interlude that seemed a lifetime to filmgoers, Bond was back and proving there was definitely no substitute.

Articles in this issue:
• Bond Reloaded - An exclusive interview with director Martin Campbell
• Luck and Fate - The ingredients that launched Bond into the 1990s (written by FSWL contributor Nicolás Suszczyk)
• The Legacy of GoldenEye - How Ian Fleming found his Jamaican solace
• Golden Memories - The publicity and premiere for GoldenEye (written by FSWL contributor Mark Cerulli)
• Big Bangs - Filming the action for Pierce Brosnan's debut
• The Man With The Golden Eye - Cinematographer Phil Meheux on setting the tone
• Thinking Big, Seeing Small - The model unit and their in-camera effects (written by FSWL contributor Steve Oxenrider)
• The Bond Connection - Behind the scenes of Guy Ritchie's The Man From U.N.C.L.E

1 APRIL 2015
NO 30 OF MI6 CONFIDENTIAL (ENGLISH FANZINE)

New issue of the English fanzine MI6 Confidential, issue 30, a special dedicated to three James Bond films directed by Lewis Gilbert - You Only Live Twice (1967), The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) and Moonraker (1979) (1979).

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE: (April 2, 2015)

MI6 Confidential, the full-colour magazine celebrating the world of James Bond 007, returns with its thirtieth issue, THE MONORAIL TRILOGY.

Although the early sequels to Dr. No (1962) quickly billed themselves as 'bigger' than past adventures, nothing quite topped Lewis Gilbert's three contributions in terms of scale. With new, exclusive interviews with the director himself and legendary production designer Ken Adam, this issue reflects on the grandeur of You Only Live Twice, The Spy Who Loved Me, and Moonraker - what they've cheekily dubbed in-house as the 'monorail trilogy'.

As well as an exhaustive twenty-page production history of the trilogy, MI6 celebrate the life and work of the late Richard Kiel, who played the enigmatic but lovable Jaws in both Spy and Moonraker. Making it 'big' really is a theme for this issue.

Articles in this issue:
• The Monorail Trilogy - The Bond films of Lewis Gilbert
You Only Live Twice - From volcano lairs to villainous vixens
The Spy Who Loved Me - Nobody does it better than Cubby Broccoli
Moonraker - Taking James Bond further than ever before
• Supertankers & Space Stations - Sir Ken Adam reflects on designing Bond
• Remembering Richard - A tribute to the late, great Jaws actor
• Ian & Roald - Fleming's connection with the author/screenwriter, Roald Dahl
• The Bond Connection - The spy-fi posters of Robert McGinnis

24 FEBRUARY 2015
NO 29 OF MI6 CONFIDENTIAL (ENGLISH FANZINE)

New issue of the English fanzine MI6 Confidential, issue 29, a special dedicated to SPECTRE (2015), and much more.

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE: (24th February, 2015)

MI6 Confidential, the full-colour magazine celebrating the world of James Bond 007, returns with its twenty-ninth issue, SPECTRE FIRST LOOK.

Ask anyone with a passing interest in Bond and they'll recall the terrorist organisation SPECTRE pulling the strings on some of 007’s most dangerous missions; but not because they have been a regular fixture of recent times. However, the organisation will be back (and just possibly its ubiquitous leader, Blofeld) in the 24th screen adventure. This issue pays tribute to the legacy that went before it. Packed with trivia, and historical data, we recount the rise of Blofeld from the germ of an idea from author Ian Fleming and producer Kevin McClory to his most recent filmic appearance in For Your Eyes Only (1981).

We also explore the little-told history of Roger Moore’s seventh and final outing, A View to a Kill – celebrating its 30th anniversary by catching up with several of the film’s alumni.

Articles in this issue:
• Snowbound - An early look at the production of Bond 24, now known as SPECTRE
• The Many Faces of Blofeld - The master villain and his organisation on screen
• Kevin McClory Interviewed - When the Thunderball (1965) (1965) producer reflected on 007 in 1979
• SPECTRE In Print - Charting the organisation's involvement in the Flemings and John Gardner novels
• Dance Into The Fire - The complete history of Roger Moore's final outing as Bond
• Steamy Rendezvous - Fiona Fullerton on spending a day in the hot tub with co-star Roger Moore
• The Final Cut - Editor Peter Davies remembers the global shoot for A View To A Kill
• The Bond Connection - Traditional cool meets modern street grit in Kingsman

13 AUGUST 2014
NO 26 OF MI6 CONFIDENTIAL (ENGLISH FANZINE)

Publication of MI6 Confidential, issue 26 (volume 8), a special dedicated to the 'unseen' James Bond, and much more.

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE:

MI6 Confidential, the full-colour magazine celebrating the world of James Bond 007, returns with its twenty-sixth issue, UNSEEN BOND.

More than two years ago we set ourselves a challenge: to track down an array of 007 paraphernalia that never made it to mainstream media and present it for our readers in an 'unseen' edition. Today we proudly present the first, but perhaps not last, 'Unseen Bond' issue, and it features some rarely viewed artwork, along with detailed analysis and history.

We touch on all facets of the Bond franchise, from the concepts and backstory to the Licence Revoked marketing campaign, through script drafts unearthed from the Brosnan era and an array of cut scenes and might have beens spanning Bond’s 50 years, to the unmade Bond 17 scheduled to star Timothy Dalton. We even had time to chat to author Steve Cole, who teases his yet unseen Shoot To Kill (2014).

Articles in this issue:
• Artistic License - A look at the marketing campaign for 'Licence Revoked'
• Bond 17 - The backstory & treatment for the un-made 007 film starring Timothy Dalton
• The Next Shot - An exclusive interview with Young Bond author Steve Cole
• From Script To Screen - The Bruce Feirstein draft of Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) examined
• Unseen Bond - After 50 years of filmmaking, what gems were left in the cutting-room?
• The Bond Connection - Ian Fleming's The Poppy Is Also A Flower

NO 23 OF MI6 CONFIDENTIAL (ENGLISH FANZINE)

Publication of MI6 Confidential, issue 23, volume 7. a special around Live and Let Die's 40th anniversary, and much more.

MI6 Confidential, the full-colour magazine celebrating the world of James Bond 007, returns with its twenty-third issue, BECOMING BOND.

One could be forgiven for thinking that a year following up the franchise’s 50th anniversary would be a quiet one. But there was still a lot to celebrate, what with the release of Solo (2013), milestones for Octopussy, From Russia with Love, and two more rounding out the year: Live And Let Die’s 40th anniversary and 100 years of the Aston Martin badge.

This issue celebrates both in equal measure, including a discussion with the Saltzman children about their father and his work on Live And Let Die, an exhaustive history of the bond between 007 and Aston Martin, Peter Lamont's adventures on location in Louisiana and New York, and the story of a unique car that could well have inspired Ian Fleming (1908-1964).

Articles in this issue:
• Becoming Bond - Sir Roger Moore reflects on his casting and time as 007
• No Kind of Doomsday Machine - Hilary & Steven Saltzman celebrate Harry's work
• In Deep Water - Peter Lamont recounts recceing and shooting Live and Let Die (1973)

Time has flown by since the release of this unsung hero of the Bond canon, and accordingly, the magazine sought out dozens of cast and crew members to reflect on this intricate and undeniably exotic Bond classic.

This issue features in-depth, exclusive discussions with Octopussy's primary cast and crew – notably director John Glen, co-star Maud Adams, villain Kabir Bedi, and a crew roundtable that includes Peter Lamont, Arthur Wooster, and more! To top it off, there are contributions from Sir Roger Moore, Vijay Amritraj, Kristina Wayborn, and the wonderful supporting cast of Bond’s lucky 13th adventure.

Articles in this issue:
• Exclusive foreword by Sir Roger Moore
• Tip Of The Tentacle - The evolution of the "Octopussy" screenplay (by Matthew Field)
• All In A Day's Work - Director John Glen on scripting, casting and location scouting
• Forever Bonded - Two-time co-star Maud Adams on the Bond girl legacy
• Behind The Camera - Bond alumni share memories from the pre- and post-production (by Ben Williams)
From Sweden With Love - Kristina Wayborn reveals a cheeky story or two from the set
• Silent No Longer - Kabir Bedi recalls facing off against 007 in his native India (by Ben Williams)
• Remembering Octopussy - Cast and crew celebrate 30 years of Bond’s 13th adventure
• The Bond Connection - When U.N.C.L.E. returned after 15 years off the air

30 JANUARY 2013
NO 19 OF MI6 CONFIDENTIAL (ENGLISH FANZINE)

Publication of MI6 Confidential, issue 19, volume 6.

MI6 Confidential, the full-colour magazine celebrating the world of James Bond 007, returns with its nineteenth issue, BILLION DOLLAR BOND.

Whilst pundits' predictions of Skyfall's success definitely rang true, the 23rd Bond adventure surely surpassed even the most optimistic auspices, both in terms of substance, and box office success. This issue celebrates that success, with a look at the global promotion and Royal World Premiere, and we turn back the clock to pre-production as screenwriters Neal Purvis and Robert Wade describe the genesis of the Skyfall screenplay in an exclusive interview.

We also chat to Gregg Wilson - associate producer and son of Michael G. Wilson - about his bond with the franchise. Finally, as Skyfall marks something of a fresh beginning for 007, the issue would not be complete without meeting the new Miss Moneypenny, Naomie Harris, and a celebration of Judi Dench's 17-year run as 'M'.

Featured in this issue:
• Bonding with Britain - Exclusive interview with screenwriters Neal Purvis & Robert Wade
• World Premiere - MI6 reports from the biggest Bond premiere yet
• Around the World with Skyfall - Following the cast & crew on their truly global junket
• All in the Family - Associate producer Gregg Wilson on his bond with the franchise
• A Close Shave - How Naomie Harris is making Miss Eve Moneypenny her own
• Swan Song - Celebrating the 17-year, 7 film legacy of Dame Judi Dench's 'M'
• James Bond Ski School - Demystifying some of the skiing jargon used by 007's creator
• The Bond Connection - Examines the life and work of spymaster-cum-novelist John le Carré

Editor's note:
FSWL got an interview with Neal Purvis & Robert Wade in September 2012, it was published on the website in early October.

Like MI6 Confidential, FSWL got an invitation to interview Gregg Wilson and Naomie Harris in conjunction with the premiere of Skyfall in Stockholm, our report will follow later.

MI6 Confidential, the full-colour magazine celebrating the world of James Bond 007, returns with its seventeenth issue, SKYFALL PREVIEW.

The Bond world is buzzing. With just a few weeks to go before Skyfall (2012) hits cinemas, we’ve seen the launch of film’s promotional campaign, the opening of the most exhaustive exhibition of 007 design, and Activision continually tease fans with a new look at their upcoming videogame, ‘007 Legends’.

We cover all of the above in this issue, but the highlight must be the time we spent with stunt coordinator, Gary Powell, who spoke exclusively to MI6 Confidential about the Skyfall pre-titles sequence. 10 NOVEMBER 2011
NO 12 OF MI6 CONFIDENTIAL (ENGLISH FANZINE)

MI6 CONFIDENTIAL – SKYFALL – ISSUE #12 OUT NOW.

MI6 Confidential, the full-colour magazine celebrating the world of James Bond 007, returns with its twelfth issue.

The waiting is over. James Bond 23 is in production. Skyfall (2012) is coming - MI6 Confidential attended the official press conference in London to gather the intel and soak up the atmosphere.

As well as the 50th anniversary in 2012, Skyfall will mark the longest gap between 007 adventures without a change of actor in the leading role. Will the extra time crafting the script, organizing the crew, scouting the locations and assembling the cast pay off?

Rounding out Issue #12 of MI6 Confidential is an analysis of The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) script history, a look at the publicity hype of Diamonds Are Forever (1971) in the USA, and how Kingsley Amis (1922-1995) fascination with 007 lead to his one-off continuation novel Colonel Sun (1968).

Featured in this issue:
• Bond With A Capital B - Complete coverage of the Skyfall (2012) press conference in London
Skyfall (2012) Timeline - Tracking all the pre-production rumours and milestones
• Selling Diamonds - How marketing helped Bond re-conquer American audiences
• From SPECTRE To Stromberg - The evolution of The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) shooting script
• Bonding With Kingsley Amis - A look back at the author's career and fascination with 007
• The Genesis of Colonel Sun - How the first 007 continuation novel came about
Agent Under Fire - A look back at the best-selling 2001 game from Electronic Arts
• The Bond Connection - Designing the anti-Bond period piece Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

19 SEPTEMBER 2011
NO 11 OF MI6 CONFIDENTIAL (ENGLISH FANZINE)

MI6 CONFIDENTIAL – BOND ON SET – ISSUE #11 OUT NOW.

MI6 Confidential, the full-colour magazine celebrating the world of James Bond 007, returns with its eleventh issue.

It frequently tops fan polls, is cited as the best Ian Fleming film adaptation, and named his favourite by Sean Connery, but it is often forgotten that From Russia with Love (1963) was one of the most troubled productions in the 007 series. This issue showcases rarely seen photographs from the set and charts how director Terence Young managed to hold it all together through near misses, accidents, cancelled locations and delays.

Keeping with the 'Bond On Set' theme, we also go behind the scenes of the ice palace car chase and hovercraft stunts from Die Another Day (2002) with all-access photographs and firsthand accounts from those who made it possible. Rounding out Issue #11 of MI6 Confidential - the leading James Bond magazine - is an exclusive interview with thriller writer Jeffery Deaver as he declassifies the secrets behind the Carte Blanche (2011) continuation novel.

Featured in this issue:
• Bond On Set - Rare images from the set and an exhaustive account of the From Russia with Love (1963) production history
Jeffery Deaver explains his successful Carte Blanche (2011) recipe in an exclusive interview.
• On Thin Ice - Behind the scenes of Die Another Day (2002) with stunt driver George Cottle.
GoldenEye 007 Reloaded – An exclusive interview with the producer of this year’s Bond game for Xbox 360 and PS3.
• Dr. No Showcase - Breathing new life into the classic 1963 comic.
• Composing Blood Stone - Richard Jacques talks one on one about creating the Bond sound.
• The Bond Connection - Rowan Atkinson and director Oliver Parker talk Johnny English Reborn.

29 MARCH 2010
NO 7 OF MI6 DECLASSIFIED (ENGLISH FANZINE)

MI6 DECLASSIFIED, the full-colour magazine celebrating the world of James Bond 007, returns with its double-oh-seventh issue.

Far from the failure that has been unfairly attributed to George Lazenby’s one-off outing, On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) was a box-office success back in 1969, and is one of the most loved adventures in the Bond canon by today’s fans. As the movie celebrates its 40th anniversary, what better time to pay tribute to the late director Peter Hunt, go behind the scenes with production designer Syd Cain and take an in-depth look at the film’s history.

This issue also includes a special feature on The World Is Not Enough (1999) boat chase and a discussion with writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. With rarely seen photography and anecdotes from cast and crew.

Featured in the seventh issue:
• Making On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) - an historical account 40 years on
Happy As A Sand Boy - a tribute to director Peter Hunt
• Production Designer Syd Cain on creating Blofeld's mountain lair
• Tracing back 007's literary journey in O.H.M.S.S.
• Come In 007, Your Time Is Up - Sarah Donohue on breaking boats and waves
• Writing The World Is Not Enough (1999) - Neal Purvis and Robert Wade reveal all
• Behind the scenes of EA’s second generation shooter NightFire
Raymond Chandler speaks with Ian Fleming in The Bond Connection
